Question about DNA method w/ Amazon - nk2333 - 12-25-2020

I have a question about doing a DNA with Amazon being asked to file a police report.

Let's say I order an expensive item from Amazon to be delivered to another country. The order then goes through and gets delivered. I then chat with Amazon claiming DNA. Now i've read on here that they will most likely ask for a police report. So how can I file a police report if i'm overseas ? I know that this could be a possible answer to amazon but if they push back what would be my options?

If they accept International reports, go to the local police station. Alternatively, It can be filed online.

If nether Is the case, then It works In your favor.

Do you have an Item In mind?

Depending on what It Is, there could be other suitable methods that you can use.

Laptop. I currently have an order going to a US address . I would do other methods if I was there, but with the other methods , I would have to involve other people to do them which I don't want to , so by default it has to be DNA (unless there's another method which doesn't involve boxing/sending something back)
Also I checked and the county PD doesn't have online reporting - only by phone. So I'm thinking of telling Amazon that I can't do a report being that i'm overseas. If they still insist, then I can just call and ask them to email me a report. Sound good?

Also, will the police come and knock on the door/talk to the resident of the address that I put on the report?

Good approach.

As you're aware, a PR Is simply required for administration purposes to move forward with your claim, hence there's no cause for concern.

There's no guarantee that they won't but what I can say, Is that It's not common at all for the police to get Involved.

They tend to put the report on file and leave It at that.

I will , but I have a question.. Since it's most likely that they will ask for a PR as part of their protocol, do you think in your opinion , it's better to have the PR already before I contact Amazon CS? I'm thinking it may look like I'm being proactive about the situation thus increasing the chance of success and also speed of the refund.

It can actually work against you.

As far as you're concerned, your SE Is a legit claim and as such, you're simply a customer expecting a refund/replacement for an Item that didn't arrive. You're not supposed to know that a PR may/will be requested, so having It on hand before events take place with Amazon, can be seen as an Indirect admission of guilt.

You're welcome.

As I've mentioned a number of times pertaining to an SE In progress, unless there's a clear Indication to plan ahead, take each step as It comes.
