Empty Box Method - drdan - 12-11-2020 Hello, I've been delivered a parcel which shows the weight of a package as far less than the actual weight of the item. DNA aside, couldn't this be used as a perfect excuse to utilise the empty box method? Is there some reason a wrong weight was used on the label? Thanks in advance. You are entitled to consider whatever is in there a gift and ask for them to fulfill the original order. once i ordered a inhouse gate which should weigh for a total of 3 kilograms, and what i recieved was a large box weighing a total for 40 kilograms, i complained and the company wanted the box returned and i denied and got a full refund for the original order.. this however wasnt intended but laws that is in place to protect the buyer from liabilities you didnt opt to get into. So lets say in your case where as mentioned above the weight isn't matching the item you bought, just find something of similar weight on their store and claim that this is what you recieved and you consider it a gift, if they dont provide the original ordered item you are entitled to going to your card provider and ask for them to refund your money, in terms of endgame. I'll clarify a bit further; I ordered an item, say with a weight of roughly 2kg, however the parcel label on the box clearly says that the contents of the box weigh 100g. The merchant in question has CCTV recording of their packing tables, I know this from past experience. However the item is inside of a box itself, so that's rendered moot. Could I not simply say I received an empty box with the contents missing? The weight would then add up. The deck is stacked against them, i would say this is a easy claim, CCTV or not, even if they can show they packed so called item into a package, it probably isnt the package you recieved, considering the courier weighed it at 100 gr. Say theres nothing, butterflies or lollipops within, if they cant 100% guarantee they fulfilled their part of the "contract" you are entitled to replacement or refund. Human error when generating labels does happen from time to time. I personally did It just last week.
