Anyone ride motorcycles? - carnage54 - 10-19-2020
Hi, pretty new here, but just bought a kawi z400 a few months back and been having a super great time with it!
Currently living in the city in a decently cold and rainy winter climate, if anyone had any general tips for a new rider, or one in the city with rainy weather? Thinking things like security etc.

Best advice I can give, is always wear thick leathers and a decent helmet. I've had many friends/family get seriously injured even with the proper attire. If it's rainy or dark, make sure you're visible to other vehicles.

Yea, right now I've got on full dainese mesh gear and a shoei rf-1200 etc., but I know it's about to get coooold. Thinking about programming and hooking up an arduino with some downward facing LEDs around the bike for visibility at night. Definitely people sometimes not seeing me during the daytime, but at night I'm probably invisible right now.

Definitely get yourself some high vis. You don't need to spend money on fancy lights and new leather (as long as you've got a full set of leathers and helmet), but you can put on some hi-vis bits and that should make a difference. I've seen some quirky LED and reflective helmet things over the years, but I'm not sure how practical they are.
Some of my family were very into their bikes, including a stupid fast hyabusa. I can't claim to know much more than the advice that was given to me, though.
