Decoding barcodes (DHL) - durden666 - 09-17-2020 I am currently working on an se and require to decode some DHL barcodes. There are three of them. Does anyone happen to know of any good resources that define and explain DHL postage label barcodes, and what is encoded in them exactly, or atleast what subcategory of information is held within it? As all the info I find on this seems to be outdated and in different formats. If I can't get any help from here I will most probably have to call DHL and enquire. It is a DHL express worldwide label. Thanks for any help. RE: Decoding barcodes (DHL) - mothered - 09-17-2020 Does any or all of this relate to an AWB (Air Waybill) barcode? The first barcode is a waybill number, as it says below it; "waybill" followed by ten digits. The second barcode I'm assuming has the destination address encoded into it, as the characters below it start with (IT) followed by the zip code of the destination. And the destination country is Italy, hence (IT). However I'm put off this slightly as after the zip code, in continues with: "+51000000" I don't see how such a simple.number can have the rest of the address, along with company name encoded into it. The third barcode has a JD number below it. It looks like this: "(J)JD01 xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx" with the X's being numbers. Which from a quick Google search, appears to be a tracking number (yet so is the waybill number) I mainly want to find out which of the barcodes aforementioned include any information about the sender. I have actually just called DHL recently and enquired about finding out the sender of a parcel if the sender's details have been erased from the label, whilst still retaining the three barcodes. They asked me to read out the waybill, I have them a dead one, when it didn't work, they asked for the JD number. Which leads me to the conclusion that those two hold information about the sender. Yet I would still like to know exactly what information they hold. However I reckon this will be quite hard without physical access to a DHL system/satabase of some sorts. Time to acquire a physical scanner from them? RE: Decoding barcodes (DHL) - Jail_Bird - 09-22-2020 How is it going? Any updates? |
