5 Tropical Cyclones, 2nd Time in History - Oni - 09-15-2020

As if the pandemic weren't enough, there are now 5 tropical cyclones in the Atlantic. This is the second time in history this has happened.

Quote:It's peak hurricane season, and that's clear when you look at the Atlantic Ocean, which has five active tropical cyclones at the same time for only the second time in history.

The only other time there were five active tropical cyclones -- hurricane, tropical storm and/or tropical depression -- in the Atlantic was in 1971.

The five systems are Hurricane Paulette, Hurricane Sally, Tropical Storm Teddy, Tropical Storm Vicky, and Tropical Depression Rene.

What a terrible year this has been, and still Is.

Unless there's a Third World War, I don't think we'll experience anything like 2020.

In all honesty, with climate change projections, and all the other doom and gloom predictions, I suspect we'll see another terrible year before long.
I personally think the question is When, not If.

I realise that sounds overly pessimistic. I'm sure whatever happens, we will be fine in the long run.

I'd say you're correct.

Fingers crossed It's not to the magnitude of what we're currently experiencing.

From space, Earth is beginning to resemble a blue Jupiter. I am no meteorologist, nor climate scientist, and make no claims to have a really good, "you know", but something tells me this cannot be a good thing.

Blue Jupiter? I've never heard this before. Where have you heard this? I'm very curious. Is it just the current storms that are prompting that nickname?

My relatives in Florida got loads of rain from Sally. I think it was around 10 inches of rain.

Climate Change will make 2020 look like an average year in the future if we donot do anything for it

I agree. I remember weather in the UK was different just in my childhood. I wonder what it's like for the farmers or others working in industries affected by the weather/climate change. I'm sure they notice it even more.

Even if we can't change or stop it, we need to seriously think about how we're preparing for it. In famously hurricane prone areas, people still don't have the right home insurance to protect their assets, and construction often isn't designed around the problems those buildings will face, like strong winds and flooding. You can still live in those places, but build smarter and live smarter.
