The Witcher - phenexfirf - 07-13-2020
So, I have played Witcher III (great game!) and I just finished watching the first season on Netflix. First off, I'm curious to know what others thought of the season. I really enjoyed it. I liked seeing some of the backstory of what I knew from the game (The Butcher of Blaviken being one of them...)
Has anyone read the books/stories? How does the show live up to the books? How do the games live up to the books for that matter?

I played Witcher 3 and New Game+. I have yet to watch the TV series. Does it line up with the game?

The new Netflix series isn't based on the games, which Sapkowski calls a "free adaptation... written by other authors....
But it has some refrences to certain parts of the game

Yeah. Apparently the tv show's episodes were based on books and short stories...the writers sort of spliced them together to try and make a coherent story.

I wish I still had access to my main PC. I have all the Witcher games, but am unable to play them atm. I'm also waiting to watch the show with Oni. I can't wait.
I've played a little bit of Witcher III and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've played through Witcher III before, and I'm currently working on my second or third playthrough. The game definitely has a ton of replay value.
As for the show, I haven't watched it yet. My friend says it's very good, but doesn't follow the plot of the games. And they're also coming out with a third season soon. So at some point I'll need to go and find a Netflix account to use.

Yeah, the show follows the plot of the stories from the books. I haven't read them...yet...

I did enjoy the Netflix series. I have also played Witcher 3 but other than that I have not delved deeper into the Witcher world. A very good friend of mine is a huge fan and said the series were nice though he thought the characters were not presented as they are in the books. Certainly will be looking forward to the next season.
