Amazon chat customer service - Justaguy121 - 06-24-2020

So I recently done a Refund on my friends account through the chat service .it was successful and the chat was ended .after a few months I went to contact amazon through his account again and I see all the old chat history just load up .is there a way I can remove all of this old chat history as I don’t really want people to realise the method .is there a way to bypass this .i understand that I could just refund over the call ,however currently amazon is not accepting phone calls due to the covid outbreak

RE: Amazon chat customer service - mothered - 06-24-2020

Do note that Amazon keeps record of all claims- chat, phone, email or otherwise.

If the chat history Is server-side (and not client-side), then you cannot remove It.

Where do you see the chats? I'm really curious as I've never seen that before.
If you open the page in an incognito window or a different computer and you see the chats, then it's almost definite you won't be able to remove them. However, the likely-hood of people realizing your method from a chat log only accessible from that account is fairly low.

I'm fairly certain the chat logs are saved server-side. I don't see any reason they would save it on the client-side.

In terms of client-side, I'm referring to whether there's a history of chat transmissions on the given device.

I done it from the amazon app .the live chat service .once you open up the chat it loads all previous interactions with amazon

Precisely what I was referring to by this:

Ah interesting. It looks like it's retrieved from server-side. You'll have to somehow convince an Amazon rep to delete the chat logs. I see that it doesn't have all my prior conversations, so it's possible they may only show up to a certain point in time?

RE: Amazon chat customer service - Checkpoint - 06-25-2020

I once asked about this to the amazon rep, and he said that chat logs cannot be deleted. I don't know if threatening them through GDPR or something could help.

There’s no way of making the chats get deleted .the rep said it’s impossible .either way a safe option would be just calling amazon once the outbreak dies down

RE: Amazon chat customer service - mothered - 06-26-2020

Chat logs do not get deleted, nor does any other form of communication relative to claims.

They're used as a point of reference with subsequent conversations.
