Amazon refund ps4 - paranxia - 06-04-2020

if I order a ps4 and when it arrives I call for assistance saying that a ps3 has arrived and I send the parcel back with a ps3 do you think the refund works?

If you say that you've received an earlier model PS, It will give them reason to check the return. The objective Is to not provide any reason whatsoever to open the box when received. Saying that you simply made an error when ordering the Item, and then placing your (old) PS3 In the box that's "perfectly sealed as per the manufacturer's state", has a good chance of success- namely due to not having the need to check It.

Why not just go with DNA. The package never arrived.

because I have a ps3 that doesn't work and I thought that instead of throwing it away it could be useful for a refund : )

In theory it sounds like a good idea however it simply won't work. I know a person that tried your exact idea and it failed miserably. Companies, including Amazon, aren't THAT stupid.

As mentioned above there's several better methods you can choose from.

What's broken? PS3 is pretty easy to fix depending on what the issue is. It's a fun side project to pop it open and try to revive. If it doesn't work, no harm done right. I've fixed a bunch of PS3's back when I was in middle school. I learned because mine broke and I couldn't afford a new one haha. After figuring it out, I actually bought broken ones and fixed them to resell! It gave me the passion to learn about taking apart and putting back together electronics, and eventually becoming a computer technician in college! And it gave me the confidence that if any of my electronics broke (and out of warranty), I can probably fix it myself. The skills you learn fixing things is great! Biggrin

If you couldn't care about any of that - using it for SE is a way to go too! I would probably only SE a used PS4 or something though. Arguing that a used PS3 was sent instead of a new PS4 is a bit of a stretch. Preferably from a big company like Gamestop and not an individual. But that's just me personally.

too bad, it seemed like a good method ... would you have any advice to make this ps3 useful?

I had already fixed it 1 year ago and up to about 1 month ago it worked ... instead now it just doesn't turn on anymore

if anything I try with the method that passed @mothered which looks pretty good and functional

How are you going to be able to send the PS3 as manufacturer sent it? I don't think you'll be able to do mothered's method with your current situation. imo, it's easier to just do DNA and get new PS4 without sending PS3, or to try to get a used PS4 and claim used PS3 was sent. To be entirely honest, I think using the PS3 would make the SE less likely to succeed though. I personally would just repair and resell, or sell for parts.

Edit: reread mothered's post. Misinterpreted it at first. I misread it as sending a new PS3 box back lol
If PS3 doesn't fit well within the PS4 box, it can raise suspicion. Also, you'll have to be careful with the packaging, not to open it up too roughly. mothered's method personally scares me in that if the PS4 is sent to another person and they complain, it may be tracked back to you. I don't know enough about how Amazon handles return packages to back it up personally.

Thanks for your comment. It's great to have data points on what works and what doesn't!

I second this, used to do wrong item by switching old and new models, now they check returns. It's better not to say anything.
