IMEI question - holio2k - 04-23-2020

This is a highly hypotetical question. Say I order a mobile phone and it's get "lost" and I call the phone company and tell them I lost my phone. They will then lock my sim card and phone via the IMEI number that I will provide them. I don't know if they keep a record of all the IMEI number on their side byt anyhow. But what If I provide them with a another IMEI number of the same phone model and get a another sim card from a another carrier. Would that work?

The SIM card Is Immaterial- It's not tied to the device. Compatibility permitted, you can purchase one and connect It to any cell phone you like.

When the IMEI Is blacklisted, It's based on the "serial number" of the respective device. Serials cannot be duplicated, hence no two numbers are the same. If you provide the company/carrier with "another IMEI number", then It will relate to the "other device"- Identified by Its unique serial number.
