Air Pods Blocked from Use - unkn0wn123 - 02-03-2020

I just got this in an email
"As the tracking on your order states that it was delivered, I've reported the Apple Airpods with Wireless Charging Case (latest Model) as lost / stolen to the relevant authorities. The device will be blocked from use"
Guess we can no longer do Air Pods?

There's no way they can block AirPods, unless i'm missing something? They could report it in some theft database via the S/N and if the item is sold on and the buyer checks the authenticity or to actually check if it's stolen, then it will be flagged.

It could just be a deterrent though. They could think by saying this that you won't want the product and you'll return it to them.

That's what I thought, I guess the only way to test this is to try them?

EDIT: They work find on android devices, has anyone ever had Air Pods blocked fully from Apple products?

Who is it from?
Amazon -- 90% of the times, it's just a scare-tactic and nothing happens. They just say that. (from experience)
Apple -- they have the ability to actually cancel the devices so they most likely would if they said so.

That's it.

I've yet to experience AirPods being blocked, nor have I come across anyone who's reported them as nonfunctional.

It's from Amazon response.
Have you ever had an email from Amazon saying they were blocked and reported lost or stolen? I would think cause Amazon have the serial under your orders that they could, however they said "to the relevant authorities" not to Apple but authorities. Sounds fishy.

I haven't received an email to this effect.

AirPods are not connected to the net, so I don't see how they can be remotely blocked.

I thought so to, maybe if they connect to a Apple device apple could get the serial number and compare it to a database and disable them from working. Wouldn't work on anything but iPads and iPhones anything like a iPod with no internet they couldn't do a thing.

Even so, they cannot block the AirPod per se.

Possibly it would be a long process to do so, the device would have to communicate the serial (which could easily be gotten via iOS) and contact a database. But that is a long method, same way Apple would block it but if you've sold some and never had a complaint I don't imagine Amazon could do it. Just annoying how they said they reported them, prob cause the stupid rep thought I said the package wasn't delivered but marked as arrived. Idiots sometimes..
