Newly Off Hard Drugs; WTF do I do with all the time? - Kludge - 11-05-2019 I am bored, manic, and cannot stop talking to save an infant elephant. Meat space is boring as fucking all get out, and this boredom comes attached to a giant wave of free time I have no idea what I was even doing with before. Anyone else quit a drug and had this problem? I don't remember quitting alcohol being this goddamn stressful! What do I do to fill life's voids now that I'm not a fucking dickhead... all the time anyway. Everyone can be a dickhead, even the soberest of people. Keep in mind, I've quit other shit before, and been doing drugs for 20 years now, so I already know all the simple crap like keep busy, work more, just stay fucking distracted as hell... And my epilepsy isn't properly controlled yet, so I have to stay within a radius of 10-20 minutes from my house... Trust me, I know firsthand quitting any kind of substance can be hard as fuck and it's normal to feel overwhelmed, bored, and manic as you're adjusting to this life without drugs. The road to recovery can be a long and challenging one, but it's also an opportunity to make a better life for yourself, so don't take advantage of that. Stay focused on your goals and take things one day at a time. You've already made a huge first step and with support and patience, you'll definitely make progress. Here's some other areas I'd focus on if I were you: - Self-care: Make sure you're taking care of your physical and mental health by eating decently, getting enough sleep, and just doing shit that helps with relaxation and just your well-being. - Personal growth: Find new hobbies that you might like, or focus on finding new skills, learning new things, etc. Trust me, this will help. You'll feel more fulfilled and confident. - Relationships: Build positive relationships with friends, family, and/or just people who truly want the best for you and support your recovery. Having a strong support system can be a big help while in recovery. Quote:And my epilepsy isn't properly controlled yet, so I have to stay within a radius of 10-20 minutes from my house...If your epilepsy really isn't properly controlled, that's not something you should ignore. I'd recommend working with your doctor (who is aware that you're in recovery) to find the right medicine/treatment. Remember, recovery is a process. It's okay to take things one day at a time. Focus on what's most important to you and what will help you maintain a good and fulfilling life. I wish the best of luck to you bro. RE: Newly Off Hard Drugs; WTF do I do with all the time? - BakassiBoys - 03-14-2023 Start a podcast documenting all the crazy fun and scary tales of hard drugs. Anthony Kiedis wrote an amazing book about 8balling called Scar Tissue. A lot of the time people relapse because a huge part of their life is now off limits and you have so many memories of these times. Finding a healthy way of talking about it without romanticising it will help you become an outside observer of yourself Get a support circle or love interest Get addicted to new drugs like cooking or gym, you got this RE: Newly Off Hard Drugs; WTF do I do with all the time? - cstewart60 - 04-21-2023 enjoy your life. it'll be tough but you can make it |
