Amazon UK SE - Rarekind - 11-01-2019

Hi, I'm new to the forum and looking for any advice on an SE with Amazon. Item's not been bought yet and I'm looking to SE 3 items or 1 item with the value around £1,000.00 GBP. The account I can use has been registered for around 9 years and there has been no issue with any previous orders, as far as I can remember.

I know a number of people who've done these in the past however, my only concern is when looking at the product I'm interested in beings as it is a computer component, it states something the following: "This product has an IMEI that uniquely identifies it. When we dispatch your order, we will scan the IMEI and add it to the order history. Where the item is not received, Amazon may register the IMEI with loss and theft databases to help prevent any fraudulent use or reselling of the item. This information is shared in accordance with the Amazon.co.uk Privacy Notice. There is no action required from you and the IMEI will only be used for this purpose."

This is not on every product page, however it does appear and I'm assuming, since I have no knowledge of this that it's best not to order these products?

People have told me they've ordered products signed for them thereselves and contacted Amazon stating they've not received the product and a replacement was sent. They've also contacted again after the replacement was sent asking for a refund and have received one, sometimes with an email or form of communication stating that Amazon have found some suspicious activity with their account. But, they've had no problems.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, with regards to the store selling the product on Amazon does this matter at all? as I've noticed the messaged regarding the IMEI seems to be directly from the manufacturer's of the product.

I'd most likely be getting it delivered next-day, I don't know whether this will be an issue at all?

One more thing I've been told is that if your neighbour signs for the package or takes delivery and you've not received it, Amazon may ask for you to get your neighbours to write some kind of statement. I don't know whether the information I've been told is correct, just the experiences of people I know and what has happened to them.

Once again, I'd really appreciate any advice on this as I'd like to do this order as soon as possible.

Thank you

What exactly Is the Item, Inclusive of It's weight and dimensions?

Which Item(s) are you "specifically" planning to SE?

I'm going to pitch in here from experience , Amazon UK is practically impossible to refund now. They'll ask for so many different reports and half the time still not even give you a refund. If they do you can expect it to affect your account badly. Imo amazon UK is not worth it.

Aside from that , don't worry about IMEI . They say they can report it as stolen and they probably can, but they never do.

You think I should use someone else's account then to do this? and is it an issue ordering next-day with prime or anything like that as I need the items as soon as.

Those are them, 1 or 2 I'd order with the motherboard and M.2. 3, 4 or 5 only one would be purchased and come on it's own, have no preference. Only thing which is mainly stopping me is this whole IMEI thing I keep seeing, I wouldn't even mind ordering a similar gpu and stating I received the incorrect item. But, I kind of need it as soon as possible, my current gpu is fried (770 OC 4gb) cannot even run two monitors. Not 100% sure if it is the gpu though it's possible it's my motherboard which is why I don't mind going with that option. I have no preference, whatever you suggest I'll do. Thank you

If you're opting for the DNA method, It's not good practice to get your neighbors Involved- It will only complicate matters.

Use a drop house/address.

I’m not looking to get them involved at all. I’ll take collection and I’ll sign it off with a name. But, I just don’t know whether getting next day will affect the order and if I’ll be ok ordering those items.

The timing of the delivery, Is Immaterial. It's how well you've planned and executed your method that's of significance.

Quote:and if I’ll be ok ordering those items.
On the grounds that the Items are on the same consignment and given It's the DNA method you're using, you'll be fine.

When you begin claiming multiple DNAs In close timing, that's when It sets alarms bells ringing.
