Amazon SE Refund Help - Yokoloko - 07-16-2019

I recently ordered a phone off of Amazon. Upon starting a return , I sent them back a dummy version of the phone.  Initially, the refund was given/completed but now, a week later, they are saying that I sent back a dummy phone and are requesting I send them the actual phone.

Currently the only options I can think of are either return the actual item or somehow convince a rep to dismiss this as a mistake. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

It's always a risk if they're going to check or not. If it's a higher dollar value they probably will. Even Amazon.
By dummy phone, what do you mean? And was the phone you bought brand new?

The value of the item is $600 and it was a used item from Amazon Warehouse. By dummy phone I mean a non-working model of the phone. It had the same weight and aesthetics but doesn't do anything.

They must have opened up the box and saw that the item they requested was not in there. You could try to tell them it was stolen during transit, but, you will probably not be able to convince someone of such a lucrative story. I would say that you have failed this, tell them it was a mistake that you sent the wrong phone and send them the right one.

Order again and try again. I don't know what method you tried, but i wouldn't try it again lol

Your best bet is to play dumb and send back the phone for a refund and try again

Plead Ignorance, and tell them you did nothing of the sort.

At the end of the day, It's their word against yours.

What was your thought process with this? I am truly curious lol. Why not another item they sold that weighed similar to the phone? It just looks super fraudulent with your approach.

Even if they check, it can easily be played off with 1 phone call but the whole dummy phone fucked it up because its blatantly obvious that he tried defrauding them.
