Yeah, this is a real thing. Are people doing it for the memes? Probably. Are the 750 thousand people who pledged to show up, actually going to show up? Definitely not. I'm not even gonna try and type this all myself, so I'll leave it up to a news article.

Of course its being done for the meme. The interesting thing to me is that the military is taking it serious, which leads me to wonder what will actually happen when the day comes.
They're training with those .50 cals. Better watch out.

If i could be livin close, i would give it a try, just for the fun of it, but think it's stupid anyway, and they won't have that much people there... if so, then why not, they can't manage that ammount of people at same time, they would need to shoot a missile! Lol!!!

For some people, including myself, questioning the existence of aliens would go against religion. I'm a christian, not a hardcore one, but a faithful one, and in my opinion they're not real. It goes against God creating people after his image. And after all, Jesus died to save us, and not some creatures from the next galaxy over. So it would be impossible for aliens to exist.

I don't find it particularly anti-Christian to think there could be other life out there. The other life forms could be as basic as ants or fish.

Wise words pertaining to God. I'm a firm believer, so I certainly agree.
In terms of aliens, If they did exist, I'm sure one In 7.7 billion of the world's population would've provided solid/conclusive evidence.
