Can a smartwatch be tracked in any way? - Rednaxela1 - 05-01-2019 Thinking of ordering one of these but not sure if they can track its whereabouts with how advanced technology is these days. Thanks in advance. RE: Can a smartwatch be tracked in any way? - piperfire - 11-11-2020 A smartwatch is a viable tracking tool. Intruders will struggle to ascertain that it's your smartwatch they've infected. Install a security solution on your smartphone that can help detect spyware before it starts spying. To Find Your Smartwatch is very hard these days because there are many models from different companies. I was confused when I wanted to buy a new one. On the Internet, I came across one article where I read a good review of Garmin Forerunner 245 Music. I bought it and I am very satisfied to wear it because it is very comfortable. Yes it can be tracked, if it has Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, or any other outer sources connection. Any of these will give the device a unique "number", such as an IP, which can easily be tracked. However, as others have mentioned, you gain very little from doing so. Any legitimate hacker wouldn't bother, even if you were a celebrity, or politician. You can get so much more from a computer, or mobile device, that a smartwatch is just pointless. What I'd be more careful of is someone using it as an exploit to access your systems, such has using a handshake. Again though, for a hacker to take the time to do this, you'd need to really be on someone's blacklist. It's just pointless otherwise. TLDR; Yes, but it's not worth it to any hacker. Correct. I was trying to keep it simple. As it's still possible to be used for tracking, I still included. However, that's why I clarified if any hacker were to go threw these efforts, or any others I mentioned, you'd have to be pretty high on a blacklist, as the effort would be beyond any profitable gain.
