Claiming insurance dual SIM phone - karoloydi - 03-21-2019

I just found out that when you claim insurance on a lost phone, the only blacklist one IMEI. So if you have a dual SIM phone, you can still use it.

Has anyone tried it?

Where did you obtain this Information from, personal experience?

And which company Is the claim generated against?

I found that information on my carriers forums (giffgaff), discussing about blocking a dual sim phone after theft.
They were discussing that you have to call separately to cancel the second IMEI, and that can only happen if you have already put a simcard in the second SIM slot.
If not, that's not possible and anyone that stole it can use it.

The claim will be with my home insurance company. Havent tried it yet, but sounds legit.
There is option on my insurance website to enter the IMEI, and there is only one slot for IMEI, not 2.
I will update the thread once I have done it.

The IMEI number Is dedicated to the "device" Itself and not relative to the SIM card.

When It's blocked/blacklisted, the device will not function, Irrespective of the number of SIMs.

My dual SIM phone has 2 IMEIs, one for each SIM.
In the settings it shows which IMEI is allocated to which SIM.

I see.

Let's get Into the (somewhat) technical side of this. A dual SIM device that allows "each SIM card" to connect simultaneously, has two IMEI numbers on the device- dedicated to each SIM. Some devices also with a dual SIM (aka: two SIM device), only allow "one SIM card" to connect simultaneously, thus the device has a single IMEI.
