Can normal ice be used instead of dry ice? - S18mbo - 02-28-2019

Can normal ice be used instead of dry ice? The package i need to return is 2kg. And dry ice is hard to come by in the uk therefore i was going to use normal ice ? Courier is DHL.

Dry Ice sublimates, meaning It turns to carbon dioxide and the process Is rather slow, which makes It Ideal when boxing.

In terms of normal Ice, try this. Take a 2kg block out of the freezer during the evening and when you awake In the morning, Is It still In that state or In liquid form (melted)? Your package will not be delivered overnight, so my answer Is obvious.

Moreover, 2kg of melted Ice will leave a lot water behind.

It just came to mind as I recently received a musclefood order and it contained ice packs wrapped in plastic to keep the food cold so instead of disregarding them i placed them in the freezer incase i could use them to box with.  They weigh roughly under 3kg and no potential for leaks?

Fucking facepalm. So what are they going to think when they open the box and there's 3kg of plastic water bags in there? The "dry ice" method is supposed to have the courier record the weight of the box when posting, and when it gets where it's going, all the dry ice has disappeared and it looks like someone has robbed the box.

And a little tip, 90% of the people saying "use dry ice" have never used dry ice, and are just repeating outdated bullshit from the SE scene years ago.

Firstly, the Ice will melt during transit, hence there will be a discrepancy In weight.

Most Importantly and as stated above, the package will be received with bags of water- which Instantly raises suspicion.

Well, is there any alternative to the dry ice - boxing method? I need to return a nest thermostate (and harddrive for a different ‘project’) Can I just box them -empty?
