Private forums as guest pls? - Defeat - 02-21-2019
Hi all. I was posting in the opinions section and a thought came so I went on private to check and noticed that the forums is wholly public(except points and search). Could we make them private? As in allow the topics to be shown on the front page but not the contents of the threads themselves. I definitely don't think my prof is gonna come here and identify anything as she's known about the topic for a while and there's nothing wrong going on. I do think that having them private will probably increase registrations which might turn to people sticking around after they have a look? Just an idea.

There's pros and cons with this.
The upside Is, In order to view the thread's content, It'll force (so to speak) registrations. However, It will prevent search engines from crawling the page's content, thereby can have a negative Impact on Indexing.

The forums limit you in the way you can only view five pages currently before having to create an account, I think thats somewhat reasonable
