Expensive Camera Amazon SE ($3k+) Need Help - Tenney - 02-21-2019

Hello,

So I've just recently done a SE on a camera lens that is pretty cheap compared to one of the item bundles that I hope to SE in the future. The item that I would like to SE is

I have to order some things and wait a little bit of time to make my account look more legitimate again as I've just done a SE, but what tips / methods would you suggest. I believe that the wrong item would be the best method for this, but the real questions I have are:
1) How much work will a SE like this take? It's over $3,000 so I'd assume quite a bit.
2) Is it alright to attempt to SE an item like this even though I have no other purchases even near this price?
3) Would using my Amazon Card be a bad idea for this?
4) What method of payment should I use? I don't have $4k to blow on this from a debit card, so maybe a credit card?

Thanks guys!

Mothered will be better off with this advice but I can give the basic:

Wrong item received is your best bet but since it's 13.6 pounds - you'll have to do some work on finding the the best 'wrong item(s)' to send back. With an item at such a high price, you'll have to make sure you return 13.6 pounds of an item back.

1) Hard to say. Depends on your account. If you've got an account in good standing it should be fairly simple (multiple legit orders, a lot of money spent, even if it's $200 or $300 here and there), you should be okay. But don't expect them to lay down and give it to you on a plate for this price.

2) I've never personally done an SE above the $800 mark but any SE is fine to attempt, but you have to realise that if you don't successfully manage to SE, you're stuck with the item you've purchased and most likely won't be able to return it, depending on the method used.

3) Amazon Card? Is that a credit card from Amazon or a gift card? Either should be fine to use but if you do use a gift card, the refund will only be allowed to be made via gift card and not your card.

4) Any payment method is fine, as long as you can take refunds back to the card.

Also, I'd remove the link to the item. I have absolutely no doubt that Amazon Employees view this forum to make sure they're up to date on the latest SE methods. There won't be many people SEing THAT specific bundle, they'd find it easy to cross-reference and throw your SE out.

I appreciate your help! Hopefully Mothered can chime in too and offer some additional advice Smile

I recommend either amazon card or temporary online debit card, which can be acquired from different sites offering this service for free or for a small fee.

Also it would be helpful to change your address, email, number. Its a big amount but policy is policy, so they will have to refund it.

Quote: How much work will a SE like this take? It's over $3,000 so I'd assume quite a bit.

It all comes down to your method. For Instance, using the DNA for an Item of this value, Is almost guaranteed to open an Investigation and It will be quite a lengthy process. They will cross-check every minute detail, as well as request a police report. Do not use this method. As mentioned, the wrong Item received Is well-suited. Obviously, It must be roughly the same size & weight.

As far as Amazon Is concerned, your SE Is purchased for legit reasons and you should treat It as such by not questioning assumptions. If you ordered this and "legitimately" submitted a claim for a faulty Item, would you be asking the above question? I didn't think so.

Quote:Would using my Amazon Card be a bad idea for this?

In short, the payment system Is Immaterial.

I'm not a financial adviser, just here to assist with your SE.

Do you know of any ways to pay for an item such as this without truly having the money? I guess a credit card is probably the best option. As well as that have you personally ever had an item not be refunded after a wrong item ordered has went through?

Credit card or a loan.

You could take out a loan, do the SE, get the refund and pay back the loan within a week or so. Since you'll have only had the loan for a week, it'll probably cost you next to nothing in interest I would guess.

You could also ask a friend or a parent for a loan if you're confident that you'll be able to successfully do the SE.

Depending on your financial Institution, fees & charges may apply when opting for a personal loan, so a credit card Is your best option.

I haven't personally experienced It (I push the claim to It's limit until a refund Is Issued), but I have read cases that have failed.

I feel confident in my abilities to get this done but I’m also nervous for the monetary factor / fear that it won’t be refunded.

Maybe start off with other companies for lesser priced item(s) (<$500) and build your way up. Once you get a refund for an item with one company, sell it locally / online and then do another item for <$1000 and so on until you've reached the price of the lens you want?

This way, regardless if the SE fails (which it shouldn't do) for the lens, you'll have paid nothing for it anyway. If you do successfully SE the lens, you'll leave your self with a lot of spare cash to SE in the future and you'll have the item you want.

I remember starting from a £500 bank balance. Now I'm up close to £20k in profits and still have consoles, phones, computers, monitors, speakers, sound systems in my possession that I would never have been able to afford before.
