IMEI Numbers - KingC33 - 12-12-2018

Was just wondering whether IMEI numbers on things like GPU'S and processors will stop you from being able to use 'Wrong item delivered' method

As on these Amazon pages they claim to scan this code

Just because It's scanned, It doesn't mean It was "packed".

Here's an analogy. You purchase an Item at the supermarket, the cashier at the register scans It, places It aside (to put other suitable Items Into your bag), and then forgets to give you the scanned Item.
Human error Is Inevitable.

So let's say I purchased a GPU and wrong item received a book weighing pretty much the same (0.05-0.09 out) that was stocked and fulfilled by Amazon, this would be possible?

Or am I likely to run in to issues due to the price discrepancy being like £460 between the 2 items 😂

The cost Is Immaterial.

As far as you're concerned, they've sent an Incorrect Item, regardless of It's nature and value. As long as they stock It, that's all that matters.

Hi,

I just received a phone without signature (even if amazon told me it was needed), is there a risk to ask for a new phone and using the first one I received ?

A risk in what sense? The IMEI of the first phone may get blacklisted which will prevent you from using it with any carrier. But it doesn’t mean it will happen for sure.
So you may end up with a useless phone and a new phone (if you don’t sell the replacement)

RE: IMEI Numbers - Ace53 - 12-13-2018

The blacklisted phone will not be localizable in any way ?

You will not be able to activate it with any carrier. So I believe you’ll be stuck at the activation setup.

You can change the IMEI of a phone, Android's inherently being easier.
Obviously not legal, but the way you got it wasn't legal anyway so Wink

It can be done, however you may experience Issues when activating the device.

I've posted my recommendation In this thread. For convenience, I've quoted It as follows:

Quote:The IMEI number Is dedicated to the device It's assigned to, hence spoofing/changing It may be rejected by the carrier during the activation process.

That said, there Is a workaround. The first 8 digits of the IMEI number known as the TAC (Type Allocation Code) Is what Identifies the model & device manufacturer. When changing It, leave those digits as Is and spoof the rest. As such, the IMEI number will show up to It's corresponding device when activating.
