Thoughts on ParrotOS? - ATU/M/ISK - 12-08-2018
I've been reading a lot about the preference for cyber security testing and penetration using Kali, Parrot, etc.
I was just wondering if anyone's tried ParrotSec, or what you personally prefer for penetration testing?

I did use parrot for a while and not long ago i tried using it again but it wouldnt work properly for me.
It doesnt really matter to be honest but preferably i use arch linux and setup everything manually.

I don't mind Parrot Security OS.
It's quite easy to navigate your way around, and most of the preinstalled tools serve their purpose well.

Yea, out of the box it's really nice. Personally I prefer it over Kali

In It's time, I actually enjoyed BackTrack- very pleasant to work with. And then the developers decided to modify/rebuild It and brand It Kali Linux.
I do agree with you on Parrot OS. I predominantly use that, but still have Kali actively running on my VM.

I think Parrot is more leaning to the Grey side (Booting to RAM only and total TOR connectivity) but I wouldn't call myself as a black or grey hat, I prefer to use Parrot over Kali just because I find it more familiar.

I prefer it over Kali, but it has some issues on my laptop that i never bothered solving like the fonts looking weird, i have a feeling its because my laptop is trying to use the NVIDIA gpu though and im pretty sure you get the same experience from using that as Kali as it has the same tools and then some more.

I use Parrot at a daily basis, In fact I'm running it as I write this post, I find it pretty useful and nice. The UI is awesome (at least for me) and it serves it's purposes well.
However, it's pretty unstable and some strange things may happen sometimes. I would suggest to run it as a VM and access it whenever you need it, or find an old laptop and drop it on that machine.

I have both Parrot and Kali Linux on virtual box. But I do like Kali Linux more than Parrot.

I watched a video on Parrot and a few other hacking OS's and guy said Parrot could be used as a daily use OS as well. Unlike Kali, where its thought to be used to do its work then be shut off, not surf the web, connect to email, buy shit on ebay, chat with your GF on facebook etc...
I was wondering if there wasnt a daily use OS that kali made that could be used to hack around with. and I did some research and found this. I havent installed it yet, but will get it up this weekend on a VM. I guess though, keeping work and private stuff should be separate, like, bad op sex can leave you with chaffing and rashes, if youre lucky maybe even a virus... worse thing would be if one did something wrong and was dumb enough to log into their FB on the same computer... or network. lol. thats how one would get caught I assume.
I plan on hacking my wifi again this weekend and seeing what I can learn or do differently, maybe get used to password cracking scripts and stuff. idk.
