I am looking to return a 269 GBP item that I bought on the 27th of March 2018. I am looking for someone to help me return it legitimately for a refund, or a full refund would even be better.

What is the item? If it's electronics, just tell them it's not working anymore and after you contacted the manufacturer, they told you to contact Amazon, because they can't help you with this problem. It's tested and working for PS4, laptops, phones....

Just state collateral damage ie other components got damaged. First year is with amazon and even second year. Refunded 1.5 year old i7 and mobo and got the full refund
