Walmart playing hardball over legitimate inexpensive refund/replacement [Discussion] - GreatLimbo - 11-13-2018

Greetings everyone! I have a legitimate issue with a FOOD item that is part of my Walmart.com order.
I've had an issue once before in the past with a food item and they immediately processed a full refund with almost no questions asked.
This item that is approximately the same cost as the one I had an issue with a little over a year ago but I've been arguing with them for about a half hour because they want me to ship a cheap food item back to them before they can even begin to process a replacement!!!
After what felt like pulling teeth for about 30 minutes they finally agreed to do me the wonderful favor of picking up the item from my home and once again, will have to wait for them to receive it to get a replacement/refund...
FOR FOOD! A CHEAP FOOD ITEM!

I've never refunded Walmart and have only had that one other CHEAP claim a little over a year ago and they are being a real pain in my ass.
I've summoned all my SE skills to try and brute force it but have fallen flat on my face lol and it's pretty pathetic. feelsbadman.jpeg
The things I've pulled off before in the past and I can't even get a legit double digit refund accomplished.
I blame us... lol is this really what the world of online ordering has come to?

Anyway, discuss

What method/excuse did you provide then that ultimately led to a refund? The "exact same" didn't work on this occasion?

Quote:they want me to ship a cheap food item back to them before they can even begin to process a replacement
If you've told them It made you very sick, threw the Item out (to safeguard other family members), then you cannot return what you don't have. Alternatively, you consumed It and felt extremely sick thereafter. I'm sure they will not ask you to regurgitate It and send It back.
There's so many methods, I wouldn't know where to begin.

When a negative response Is received, request for the matter to be escalated to a senior level.

Apologies, I try to be as vague as possible for a reason but I can elaborate a little bit.

Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to SE I was just trying to get a refund like I had before and was just baffled by the horrible customer service of multiple reps, hence this thread.

The first time the item was opened (from damage) and I was refunded immediately and not asked to return it with no further questions. This time is extremely similar.. the seal was broken, so it was basically open and was asked multiple times "what my issue is?" "What's the problem?" Basically grilling me over nothing.

The situations are practically identical with the exception of the item itself. Similar price, similar problem.

No problem at all, I understand and appreciate your standpoint.

So If you told them you consumed It (In It's entirety) and Immediately felt extremely sick, what then? You cannot send It back.

The reason I've said "Immediately", Is to Indicate that the Item was the cause and not anything else. I'm at a loss as to why they're so difficult to deal with, over a simple request for a refund of a food Item.

It's really not something that could be consumed in one sitting... well, technically yes but that would probably explain why it made you sick haha
It's pathetic they're even requesting such a thing be returned and it's already set to be picked up tomorrow so I don't thing there's anything that can be done to speed up a replacement/refund... unless I say someone threw it away and no longer have it.. but that runs the risk of them telling me I'm SoL

There's an element of risk with everything of this nature.

I believe this Is the best course of action, to justify your Incapacity to return the product.

Well, I know there's always a risk but I'm not even trying to SE them. The sad thing is if I was I feel like the whole claim would've gone a lot smoother than it's going. SEing/refunding is less hassle than actually going through the appropriate steps of a claim... what an amazing lesson I've learned: Always rip off online vendors (or at least Walmart)
I try to be legit and this is the thanks I get from a place I've never messed with.

I've yet to deal with a food company who's put me through what you've described.

It's appalling to treat their customers In this manner. If they've done this to you, I'd say they'll treat others similarly.

That's what has me so put off. It's unbelievably shitty customer service but it wasn't always like this. I'm wondering if it's because of SEing picking up popularity... I don't even know if that's the case but I can't think of any other reason for them to lock down like this.

Whatever the case, SEing or otherwise, every customer Is treated on their merit, so the company should not be Influenced by other events.
