Microsoft buys Github - Cr3aTor - 11-12-2018

Apparently this was announced a few weeks ago, but until now I wasn't aware of it. Therefore, I thought that are others like me, and this is something big from my point of view.
So Microsoft is going to buy Github, I see it quite abnormal since Microsoft is not to supportive for the open-source projects and Github does just that. Besides that, a massive company like Microsoft to have all the tools and monitor the activity on Github, where users value their privacy since they're in the IT industry, it's kinda weird.
Regardless, what do you guys think about it?

Edit: Apparently RedHat was bought by IBM. Since Red Hat effectively funds a lot of Linux userland development, and is the second largest contributor to the kernel.  This is quite big as well. Source

I read a bit about this. Not sure what I think in terms of the future of the company with Microsoft. This will either be a huge win for GitHub and will help take it to the next level or Microsoft will ruin a bastion for open source software for the sake of monetizing the fuck out of it.

I read about this a while back.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Microsoft's acquisition (for obvious reasons).
Only time will tell what's In store.

I see it going more into the monetizing the fuck out of it, since Microsoft made a lot of fucked up shit in the past. But as stated down below, the time will be the only to tell.
