Need advice for first major SE - FrenchKicks - 10-17-2018

Honestly, I don't know if this will work or not, just need your opinions.

Planning on sending $500 headphones to my housing complex (same address for multiple people, packages distinguished by name so real info is needed). The catch is that when I put my apartment number and complex name in the address box UPS will not deliver it as they will try to drop it off straight to my door, but that is not possible. So package gets held by carrier for 5 days, and if I contact UPS within that time frame I can update the address and have it re-delivered. A shipping error shows up on my Amazon account, and when I have contacted Amazon about it in the past (for small ticket items) they apologize for losing my package and offer a refund.

I don't this would work for more expensive items as Amazon support can just contact the carrier and see that the package is in fact not lost, but they have claimed that it has been lost in the past (even though it was not).

What do you think would be the best way to successfully get a refund, and how can I be more careful with my personal information?

What Information have you received to Indicate/conclude the above?

UPS straight up told me they cannot, and my housing complex told us not to put the room number in the address because of this. I have put my apartment number in the address box before and those packages always got held by carrier.

Just use a re-mailer like shipitto
I havent tested them, and they log, so thats up to you.
Alternatively, just rent a private mailbox

I see your point.

Can you use a "drop house" for the delivery, meaning a house that's vacated (up for sale/rent) and then claim you didn't receive It?

I probably could, pure anonymity would be the best way. Just curious if the method I posted above could work.

It's very difficult to be conclusive but given It's worked as stated, I don't see any reason why It shouldn't do the same for subsequent Items- provided the exact same procedure Is applied.
