You can either ignore them and give up on the SE, reply to the UPS driver, or make up some excuse as to why you are not home, like you are going on a trip, and explain the same situation you would to the UPS driver though email or something.

Whats best to get refund on amazon? say wrong item was received or say nothing make the package seem that it has never been opened and just send then an item with same weight that was bought from them on a different account?

For all,
Is it easier to make a SE for example a DNA on a company hard hit by these methods or many companies being little affected (clothing brand less known, etc. ...). Would the less affected companies be more apt to reimburse the lost packages or on the contrary, do they think twice before reimbursing since it never happens to them?

@mothered, Quick update: I got in contact with them via live chat today and they informed me to contact back tomorrow and agent said "I have tired to validate the report but the "local Police" is not cooperating for us to validate it. Please wait until tomorrow so we can process refund without validating it"
Then received an email from CS saying "At this time, we're unable to validate your report with the local police. Please contact us after x date and we’ll review our options"
So hopefully tomorrow will be the day I'll finally get the refund sorted! I'll update once its concluded
