hey guys, you can get rid of the lock completely by doing a fastboot boot twrp (it's in a thread on xda-developers) then deleting /system/app/VUDUStartWizard. you may have to do a fastboot flashing unlock first, idk. once you delete that folder though it'll boot straight to the home screen. have fun, hail satan
edit: at least this worked on the nextbook I got my hands on, the ares 10a, the recovery file was for the 8a though

Well, it's been a work in progress, but I have finally been able to crack the activation code using the TestDisa File. It was quite easy once I thought about it. I thought about trying to make a few bucks with this information, but I am not a greedy man and I love doing things like this and that's enough for me.
So all you will need to find your activation code is your TestDisa file and a Hash Password Cracker. I used the website https://crackstation.net/ for cracking my hash. In your TestDisa file you will be looking for a string of numbers that keeps repeating itself exactly the same. This is what my TestDisa file looks like and what I noticed is that this string of characters "2410a6aa5ed87d45f2b303c1905172af" kept repeating itself. I noticed that string would always stay the same up until charcater "f" and then would change. So I simple took that string of characters and copied it into the website i listed above and ran its decrypter. I clicked on crack hashes and out came my activation code "542805"
My hash is 32 characters long and I am assuming everyone will have one that length. If you have any questions or would like some help finding your activation code please feel free to comment or message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Well the solution for the Nextbook Ares 8A (Worked Perfect for me and do at your own risk!!! )
Here are the steps to install adb and Intel drivers, in the proper order:
The best way to to set up adb and fastboot in windows is to install it system wide. Here is an installer to do this that works well:

Install process for 15 sec adb:
1. Run it (Require administrator privileges)
2. Press Y/Yes to install ADB and Fastboot
3. Press Y/Yes to install ADB system-wide
4. Press N/No to skip installing Drivers
5. 15 seconds passed - finished!
6. Now install the Intel drivers listed above and here, again:

Now Unlocking bootloader.
Boot up device with vol key down tell you get to the bootloader screen.
On your PC where you put the Nextbook Ares 8A V2.1.5 Modified Boot Images And TWRP files, Hold down shift and right click in the folder and open command window here. make sure you have unzipped the zip file. you can leave SuperSU zipped. When the command prompt opens.

fastboot flash recovery Ares8A_recovery_twrp.imgAfter that finishes you should use twrp in advanced tab then file manager go to System then go to app in there you will Delete VUDUStartWizard
After that reboot and it may come up with verification failed screen then it will reboot and you will be all set to use you tablet. No activation mess.

I just bought an Ares 8A tablet at Walmart yesterday, but the cashier didn't properly scan the tablet, so I wasn't given the activation code and ended up finding this forum/thread on Google, saving me a trip back to Walmart.
Anyway, I did the testDISA method. However, the hash wasn't unsalted md5 like it seemed to be for others. The hash in my testDISA file was salted bcrypt. I ended up using hashcat to mask attack the hash since I knew it was going to be a 6 digit number. I had never used hashcat before (or any cracking software for that matter). Took me the better part of an hour to figure out the syntax and everything but it took less than one minute to actually crack it. Apparently the salt and stronger cipher isn't much of a deterrent.

So all you will need to find your activation code is your TestDisa file and a Hash Password Cracker. I used the website https://crackstation.net/ for cracking my hash. In your TestDisa file you will be looking for a string of numbers that keeps repeating itself exactly the same. This is what my TestDisa file looks like and what I noticed is that this string of characters "2410a6aa5ed87d45f2b303c1905172af" kept repeating itself. I noticed that string would always stay the same up until charcater "f" and then would change. So I simple took that string of characters and copied it into the website i listed above and ran its decrypter. I clicked on crack hashes and out came my activation code "542805"
My hash is 32 characters long and I am assuming everyone will have one that length. If you have any questions or would like some help finding your activation code please feel free to comment or message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
