I've just Googled It, and a good Arak contains over 50% alcohol.
An entire glass of that sounds like cirrhosis.

I'm not going to lie, that doesn't sound like the best idea in the world - Vodka and Wine I mean. The screwdriver cocktail you mentioned is a staple here xD I believe Smirnoff offers pre-made screwdrivers now too.

I don't think I'd be game to try that combination either. However, I have tried Malibu and Milk. This was at the insistence of another person who was drinking it at the time. They encouraged myself and my housemates to all try it. Our verdict: Surprisingly great.

I rarely drink anymore, however I've always drank bourbon pretty exclusively. I was never into mixed drinks though, like ever. Angel's Envy is my favorite bourbon.
I also enjoy a nice Cabernet Sauvignon from time to time with a bit of dark chocolate. The combo is heavenly.
