If It's a shipping hazard, It will work In your favor due to the carrier not accepting the Item, and the fact that you're complying with Lenovo's request.
Understood, this is the email draft I have so far, "Luckily, I was able to recover the laptop from the electronic disposal store, as they had not thrown it out yet. It actually looks like the battery has degraded even more, I can ship it out if need be."

Looks good, however If they're going to request the return of the laptop, you need to make sure that the carrier will not accept dangerous/hazardous goods.

Alright, cool. I was looking at the three major shipping companies, of course being; FedEx, UPS, and USPS. Each mention no shipment of "hazardous" items, the criteria of which is to be a variety of different things. But the ones that I can use are if the item is flammable, explosive, or corrosive. And FedEx just straight up won't ship lithium-ion batteries. With a "faulty battery," this seems like it might work.

Sounds good. You've done well with your research.

Fingers crossed, Lenovo doesn't nominate a carrier that does handle hazardous Items.

Thanks, I want this to go as smoothly as possible. He responded with, "Great. Do you have a box? I can send a box and shipping  label if needed." So, I'm assuming that I get to choose my own carrier and I will say that each carrier won't let me ship out the laptop. I was thinking that he might eventually recommend their own carrier, which seems like something I can't come back from.

If that's the case, be sure to select a carrier/service without tracking. Then tell them you've sent It and they should receive It soon.

As such, they'll have no way to locate Its whereabouts In transit.

Okay, I guess this method would be better because after it never arrives and there isn't anything I can do after that point.

And there Isn't anything Lenovo can do to locate the package, which Is the point of using this method. As a result, you've fully complied with their request to fulfill the requirements of your claim.

That's provided they do not nominate a carrier at any point In time.

Yeah, I'll reply that I have already purchased a shipping label from "x". Doing more research as to which company has tracking as an add-on, I think every postal service adds a tracking number for free... Do you think I can just say that the post office worker neglected to give me my tracking number and confirmation?

It's a little risky.

Given It's tracked, postal services keep a record of the tracking number and on request, can locate It based on the sender's details (yourself). If Lenovo Is aware of It and take this route, It will work against you.
