I would use both. nVPN is my choice.

Tor: Other users are also doing bad stuff and the end node in your connection is not encrypted so anyone can sniff what are you doing.

VPN: It's good when you use a provider that doesn't log anything. Avoid free providers, almost all log what you were doing.

I personally combine both when I need full anonymity, the downside is that the connection turns painfully slow.

TOR does have speed issues but since the release of v1.0, the speed has improved considerably.

I THINK it's either 80 or 100... I might be thinking of another tool though

I heard that VPN could be traced while Tor not. The founder of Silkroad was using VPN when he was arrested lol

Either one can be traced if used incorrectly and without caution. You should also never trust your privacy to a single line of defence.

Mullvad is one of the best i used it for a while they also say they keep no logs on their FAQ Smile

Maybe I was doing it wrong but I found TOR to be EXTREMELY slow. VPNs work a lot faster for me. Which is more anonymous though?

TOR is very slow so no you wasn't doing anything wrong. As for which is more anonymous, neither on their own both have flaws and you should never trust a single service to be completely safe. He'll to be honest there's no such this as complete anonymity the goal is to make it as difficult as possible to obtain your real details, so much so that whoever is tracking you gives up.

If you're ethical and sticking within the law you don't generally have too much to worry about and either should provide a semi decent level of protection.

There are many factors to look at when choosing either though research them both and see which fits your purposes.

I personally prefer Tor that's because it's free and because it is by far more anonymous, VPN providers could keep access logs, but Tor does not keep any such logs and even if a log was made the software doesn't know your ip address so you can't be traced :-)
