How good is MalwareBytes? Like is the full version worth getting.

It's the best AV out there. I'd get the full version, if you have a little to spend. I'm very satisfied.

In my experiences, this is one of 3 things;
  1. Malware
  2. Corrupt OS
  3. or simply just a cluttered cache.

While the other 2 aren't quite a breeze to fix, you could start by downloading a piece of freeware called CCleaner. Small tool, but works wonders! I recommend it even after getting this issue fixed, it'll keep your PC running pretty smooth.

If its malware, I would suggest getting Malwarebytes & doing a FULL scan, or a boot scan.

If its corrupt OS, well man ..you're gonna have to do the oil change, lol.
Maybe switch to Linux, where these problems don't persist so much?

Hope this helped! (:

You are ratted, i had the some problem a year ago. You need to do a system restore or Format the drive, Or try installing windows with internet disconnected or it will come back over and over again if it is designed for that.

I've had this problem it was malware. As mentioned above boot in safe mode and if its still happenning reinstall windows. Back up your data dB an then install. Its best to start off on a clean slate. Hope this helps good luck.

Use Avira and Malwarebytes..Works everytime!

I am CCleaner user. You might want to add a startup with this following commands next time:

ccleaner /auto

since the issue is a "corrupted shortcut" i guess that would help to avoid the issue next time.

just to clarify some things here -- malwarebytes is not an a/v -- a license for malwarebytes pro is 25 bucks and good for a lifetime, not just good for a year -- it is used to compliment an a/v -- if you think you have a rootkit of sorts download and run tdsskiller
