I mean, it was bullshit enough that this guy could walk on water and be created with a virgin for a mother, so why should I really believe he existed and the whole thing isn't a load of BS? Just my two cents, getting off-topic thought I spose.

Okay. Basically from my view point the book (the bible) is a legitimate book with words spoken by god and written through man. If you take the first chapters of genesis I would say it adds up. Earth was created by a super natural human being who we have named "God." Why do I believe that God created earth? Well it's pretty obvious that everything has to have a beginning. Now thing according to the "Big bang theory" there was a massive explosion caused by particles within the galaxy. But it doesn't make sense. How were these particles first created wouldn't they have needed a creator? Now before you say well "who created god." The simple answer is, no one. God isn't an object or even physically existent as he is a super natural being. I cannot force you to believe my religious values but I'd appreciate a decent friendly debate. RE: Left-hand, Right hand, My foundation theory. [Religion] - Harvey - 08-02-2013 I love how these debates always come back to the origins of the universe. :p Quote:Basically from my view point the book (the bible) is a legitimate book with words spoken by god and written through man. Let's establish something. "God" never spoke. Bats, deers, goats, and flies don't speak. Humans speak. God, never said anything that could be heard by humans. I wouldn't say for a minute god spoke. But yes, I would agree that something was written by man. Quote:Why do I believe that God created earth? Well it's pretty obvious that everything has to have a beginning. Correct! Quote:Now thing according to the "Big bang theory" there was a massive explosion caused by particles within the galaxy. Something like that. B) Quote: But it doesn't make sense. How were these particles first created wouldn't they have needed a creator? Now we're cooking. The answer is 'energy'. Energy is everything. All we know about energy is that it is neither created nor destroyed, but conserved. Scientists will be the first to admit that no one knows the origin of this energy. The question isn't "what created the universe?" - we've figured that out. The question is, "what/how was energy created?" Quote:God isn't an object or even physically existent as he is a super natural being. Correct. Let's assume that a supernatural presence created this energy which is the crux of our universe and everything that exists. You seem to have a very solid understanding of things and don't seem naive at all. My question is, why do you have to label it as 'god'? Yeah, we all know something beyond our comprehension initiated everything, but why do we need to align with Christian values to have this belief? Why can't Christians just leave it as, "we don't know"? Why must you make up books and rules and sins and contradictions and fictional characters and story lines to have such a belief? Actually you cannot say that as animals do communicate with each other just not with language as humans do but with sounds. Also god spoke through man to have the bible written. Today it isn't written exactly as it was back when but it's as close as it can get. RE: Left-hand, Right hand, My foundation theory.
