JP version is celebrating its 6th anniversary.

Got summer Musashi and Carmilla, but failed to get Melt (who was my objective). This is bittersweet.

Sorry to hear you didn't get Melt. But Summer Musashi is a neat pull. I didn't manage to get her this year.

Is this game worth starting in 2021?

I don't play Fate but I play Azur Lane. Been playing it for like a month now and it's amazing.

It would be a challenge, as the game's got 6 years of content behind it. It's a gacha as well, so not worth playing unless you know what you're getting into.

Spoiler:
Starter accounts do exist, for those that are hell-bent on obtaining a particular character.

Azur's probably the most F2P-friendly gacha there is.

If you want another perspective on this:

You will miss a lot events that are probably not coming back any time soon, but even if you don't want to spend any money, I believe it is worth it. If you don't care about getting every single character, it is a really complete game. The main story gets really good once you pass the first 5 levels, and it is really extense. The upcoming events are also really good.

I have been playing for 3 years and I am a somewhat free-to-play player, as I only spend on the guaranteed gacha (once a year, for one 5 star character). If you play on the NA server, you will be able to plan your free quartz spending, and have a really good chance at getting the characters you want (if you care about that).

Play the campaign. It is worth it, and you can beat everything with <3 star servants (characters), which you can get for free, and are very common. Some events even give you 4 star servants for completing certain tasks.

If you finish the campaign, the events are really fun, and some are very challenging have great storylines (ooku, CCC, gudaguda). You can play whichever event is active while you wait for a new chapter to get released.

Here is a screenshot of some of the servants I have been able to aquire being a really casual player:

Still, some cons are that since it is a mature game, you will miss on a lot of past events, and if you care about getting ALL the servants, some will probably never come back. I have some friends that tried to start during the pandemic. Only one of them really got into it, the rest went to play genshin impact, which is more user-friendly, modern, and has a really forgiving gacha, but less interesting characters and story IMHO, although since it is newer, you have a chance at getting all the characters.

Atlantis Lostbelt is coming to NA. Already NP2'd Super Orion.
