well i did just look and i guess i could get some earrings for about $300 USD and missing item the ring which is $650 then tell them forget the setting now because i need it now ( this would get me two items for the price of one less costly item which would be worth still but not necessary) Company is a smaller online retailer for jewelry but still well known online. Would be overnight Fedex shipping if that matters.
however to answer your question the ring itself will only weigh about 5 grams max, hard to tell bc its not listed but i looked up average weights for gold rings with size and its probably like 2-4 grams. But there will be a box i assume it will come in which is : 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.13 inches - approx: 55 grams to 65 grams for the ring box.

used this site to get a rough estimate of weight ring calculator
So, for missing item, i would say i got the Ring Box but no Ring inside it? or say i didn't receive anything (the box or ring) else besides the cheaper item i will buy to use partial method for a higher chance of believability?
I assume if i go with missing item method will have a less chance of carrier investigation since i will say i received the earrings but not the ring setting?

Be sure to have read their T&S about the responsibility in these cases.
Just to be very clear, there might be some risks with the empty box method too, I don't want to enter in detail now, but let's see what happened.
