RE: HELP: Apple.com/de SE for 2 MacBooks - daqrinsa - 01-04-2023

DHL Express Guy came over and wanted to talk to me. Luckily my sister is not at home. He didn't speak the language well but was obviously stressed and a bit angry maybe and also lost. I somehow feel sorry for him.

My wife was there as well. First he asked me something like "where is the order" or "can you show me the packages". I played stupid and upset and said "Are you here because of the boxes I didn't receive?". He said something like "You said something to DHL and you said didn't get your delivery". I told him it's probably the Laptops I am waiting for since I ordered them on the 18th, that they actually are xmas gifts but I am still waiting for them that's why I called Apple and complained.

He asked me where they are and I told him I never got them, I wasn't at home sometimes but when I was, I definitely didn't receive them. Also, I don't know him and don't recognize him, then I asked him if he recognizes me. I said "You see, I haven't seen you before and I guess you didn't see me either, so how should it be possible that you delivered my order to ME".

He said he never gives the package other people but only the recipient, but then he said he gave a package to my neighbor the other day. He asked me if I talked to him. He was somehow contradicting himself. I said I know this neighbor very well and that he didn't receive this order either. I said "I sometimes take packages for him and he might do the same for me, like some while ago. But this stuff definitely didn't reach him nor me."

He said "Can you show me the package he gave you?". I said "I opened it right away it was something else. I threw the trash packaging etc away alreay. I have bought lots of stuff for christmas." He asked me to go over to talk to the neighbor. Luckily he was not at home. We waited and I told him that his car is not here.

He asked me why I complain so late, why I waited to complain. I told him that I used google and called apple and that they refered me to a halp article that says "Wait for 5 days for the package to arrive" and that's why I waited 5 days. Then I called them again and after several attempts to talk to someone they told me that the package was delivered and I told them it wasn't so they started some process to find it. That's all I know and I am the one to be upset here.

Then he said "Can you show me the email that says delivered?". I went inside to get my phone and remembered @mothered saying that I am not even forced to talk to him or give him any information. But I thought I might have a shot at steering the situation into a good direction for me, as I started the convo anyways. I quickly searched my emails for DHLExpress and found the package that my neighbor took for me. I showed him that it was another company and another delivery and date anyways. He asked me for the right email again. I don't really know why, but I actually couldn't find the email saying that the order is delivered. Somehow even when searching for DHL or DHLExpress I didn't see it, I showed him the results list and the dates were from mid 2022. He called his boss or supervisor and talked to him, explained that I didn't receive the mail that says "Delivered" etc.

He looked at our doorbell and asked me what my name is. I pointed on my name, he asked me if my wife accepted the delivery, I said "she was standing here a minute ago and told you the same that I am saying. We never received them".

He asked me if we have a camera at our bell or door, I told him that we got cameras around the house but not pointing on the street or on our bell.

I told him I really got to work and I am already missing an important call as I work from home. I added something like "I'm sorry that I don't have the time to talk to you anymore but I am more confused than you are and now I got to work."

He said bye and left, I waited a minute and checked from the windows if he left, he was gone. I guess he continued with his usual work routine as well.

I hope I didn't fuck it up by even talking to him but as my wife was calling me to the door and as I saw him in front of me I thought it might harm my success probability and authenticity if I just shut the door on his face.

Very well done, just wondering why he was so agressive about entering your household, it's extremely bad behavior. I would add a complaint on top of that.
Imagine if you actually did not receive any package, were stressed about missing how much ? 3-4k? And even some random worker trying to enter your house. Wow.
Keep this up, looks like you are on a good way, he even contradicted himself!

Thx for your compliments and input. Of course I could complain and make a huge scene if I want to. But I personally feel a bit sorry for the guy because I believe he‘s an innocent hard working guy who‘s super confused and might also be sad etc. At least he didn‘t try to enter my house, he was always standing outside in front of the door. He didn‘t even try or ask to enter, so that‘s why I won‘t complain about this specifically or him as a person (at least from my current opinion). I will rather express my general empathy and understanding that sometimes things don‘t work as expected and logistics, tech, people, processes etc. sometimes fuck up, I will be polite as long as possible, because that‘s me and works best for me. I‘ll play more stupid and confused than I actually am. I hope that gives me a more relatable and hopefully more buyable/believable SE personality.

Also I want to add that this is probably the last DNA I‘ll ever perform, because it doesn‘t seem to be fun for me to see that Deliverymen get mad about me or their destiny and seem to get serious trouble from their supervisors etc.

I rather fuck with the logistics company or the store, not with the hardworking innocent deliverymen. Really curious about your thoughts on this everyone.

Thx a lot! I heard I might need it. As far as my research tells me it might take a long time and include a PR. Let‘s see.

RE: HELP: Apple.com/de SE for 2 MacBooks - daqrinsa - 01-05-2023

UPDATE: So today another DHLExpress employee called me on my mobile phone, he called as anonymous to hide his number. (I am not even sure if this is legal or not. Not sure if I gave consent for them to call me anonymously on my mobile phone...). It seemed that this was the superior oder supervisor of the driver.

He didn't even introduce himself but only said "Hey it's DHL Express here. I am calling because of the missing delivery. The driver told me that he gave it to your wife."

I told him "This is not true. My wife opened the door for him yesterday and they didn't recognize each other. He didn't say that she accepted the package when he was standing in front of her. So how can this be possible? Look I paid lots of money on christmas gifts that never arrived. I am really upset and I was also collaborative to talk to the driver and answer his questions, go over to the neighbor's house etc. But now my patience is fading."

He said "What was in the box?"

Sadly I answered. I guess I didn't have to due to privacy etc. But he can find it out anyways I guess. So I said "Two Macbooks."

Then I actually got a video call from work. Told him that I need to take that call and he can call later.

After 8 minutes the driver called me. They definitely are located together physically and talking about the case or the supervisor called him to make him call me. I took the call and let him repeat himself 3 times, because I couldn't understand him that well.

He said something like "I need to file a police report now for the lost boxes. So I need to call the iPhone and then file a report."
I asked him to repeat that but more clearly because it's hard to understand him.

He said something like "So I need to go to the police now and file a report."

I said "Okay. So it takes even longer now? When do I get my order?".

He said "I don't know. I need to file a police report now because the iPhones they have GPS and so they can track and find them. Then we know where they are."

I thought >>He thinks I ordered iPhones? Or did he just mix it up himself because he doesn't know that a Macbook is?<<

I said "Okay sure." Did some annoyed sigh and said "So it does take longer...Okay."

Guys now I am a bit afraid. I searched on Google whether MacBooks can be traced. I've read lots of times here in the forum that only Smartphones or Devices with a SIM card and GPS can be tracked. But via Google I found out that probably DHL and Apple will mark these Macbooks as stolen, so once they are turned on and once someone logs in and activated iCloud etc. they will be blacklisted, deactivated or something similar.

Is that true? Am I rendering them useless? Will I need to sell useless Macbooks? Or even worse, can they track and trace them?

I believe the supervisor told the driver to call me and tell me this SO THAT I GET AFRAID. Kind of a tactic I guess. To see who is fucking around and who truly did not receive the delivery.

But now I kinda am afraid, even if it's just a bit. The thing is if this takes some more weeks I am sitting on my expenses on the credit card, paying interest on this purchase. Moreover, my aim to make a profit might be missed if the Macbooks are blacklisted or something. Is it worth it? Or should I just tell them that I talked to my family again and my sister told me she accepted them and put them somewhere I didn't find them. Or that they accidentally were put in other boxes and brought into the garage because it just looked like random brown boxes?

@mothered thoughts?

RE: HELP: Apple.com/de SE for 2 MacBooks - Jail_Bird - 01-05-2023

Yes, it is possible for the police to track your MacBook. However, it is unlikely that they would do so unless they had a valid reason and followed proper legal procedures. It is a common practice for companies like DHL to track packages as part of their investigations. The way you described the situation makes it seem like the DHL workers are being aggressive and trying to intimidate you.

EDIT: they don't even know you actually ordered macbook, possibly don't even know what that is meaning they don't have any serials at all.

I also think they just want to intimidate me, probably a basic strategy to wash out the weak liars.

What makes me doubt and question the sense/benefit of all this is, that the MacBooks might be useless, even if I succeed with the SE. That's why I seriously consider calling apple and telling them my sister accepted them, didn't tell me because we had an argument some weeks ago (which is true) and somehow the boxes got mixed up by cleaning the house and getting ready for christmas. I could say I finally found them in our basement untouched and want to return them.

What do you think is my chance of apple accepting the return?

UPDATE: The driver called me again, basically giving me a last chance to "find" the boxes.

He told me he printed/requested some papers from DHL stating that it was delivered to my house and there's my name on it. I asked him what my name is and he barely pronounced it right. I then said this is only my last name, it's written on my bell and mailbox outside, what does this prove?

He said it's my name and the location is the right one etc.

I asked him to show me the papers. He sent it over via whatsapp and there's even a misspelling in my last name. I told him it's weird and doesn't prove that I received the delivery. I paid for it and I should receive it.

He again told me that he thinks my wife accepted the delivery. He said he definitely saw me for the first time yesterday but he thinks my wife was the one who accepted the delivery, as he feels like he saw her before. I definitely know that my wife and I were not at home at the time of the delivery, that's for sure.

I told him that my wife can't be the one who took it, also she opened the door for him yesterday and saw him etc. I asked him if he thinks my wife is lying to me and not being honest. I told him that one of the Macbooks is a christmas gift for my wife so why should she lie to me?

He said he is not saying that she's lying but maybe she mixed it up or something. He will go to file a police report tomorrow and that's why he wants to tell me to look for the boxes and ask my wife etc. because if I call him today and tell him I found it he won't go to the police.

I told him I will ask her again and also my dad and look for the boxes. I asked him how they look like and what color they have etc. and told him if I find them I let him know.

Guys, obviously it' also well played from him and somehow intimidating, also very much building up pressure with the use of a deadline and giving me the urge to "find" it quickly.

Guys I need your help and input. If I would be sure that apple would accept the return of the macbooks I would defnitely send them back now. But I don't want them to refuse because they are counting from the day they delivered them and not from the day I RECEIVED them.

RE: HELP: Apple.com/de SE for 2 MacBooks - Jail_Bird - 01-05-2023

I would only add to prevent your sister from showing up around your house if possible, if he sees her, he will know he handed it over to her
The police report is only required for most of the companies to finish the given matter. They will ask you to fill in order id, company ordered from, contents however I can't imagine the DHL guy filling it up instead of you if they don't know what have you actually ordered. Before doing any actions, I'd recommend to wait for @mothered if they find time to make a reply to you - I don't want to give wrong advice although according to my experience this is very normal situation except of them being super annoying and very disrespectful.
