Yes, do exactly that.

After what they've put you through, they deserve to be hammered.

Will that raise extra suspicion
Simply say you've received the same one as a gift.

If It was a legit return, there'd be minimal complications, If any at all.

Records are stored of every communication and claim.

Whether they refer to previous and/or current details, remains to be seen.

You're welcome.

I am more than tired of this reps.
They’ve replied the exact same with the same wording, failing again to provide me details of what kind of I consistencies they found.
I have urged them, again, to escalate my claim to someone who can provide me details instead of copy-paste replies.
I don’t know what else I can do, to be honest.

I understand your frustration.

Emails are getting you nowhere, so deal with them In real time. Have you tried calling or opening a chat session?

I’ll try calling tomorrow since I’m short on time today.
Hopefully they can tell me what inconsistencies are they talking about? How am I supposed to address them if I don’t know what they are?
Thanks again for your invaluable help.

Good.

A lot can be said over a phone call, as opposed to an email message repeating the same content, thereby not having the opportunity to question them and speak In your defence there and then.

You can remain on the phone until your concerns have been answered.

That's precisely our point throughout the entire claim.

So, here goes a long overdue update:

Complaining with amz reps about the police report was going nowhere so I gave up on that approach a decided to go for the sealed box method. I was aware it would be a bit risky and suspicious because of all the situation but I decided to go for it.
I contacted a rep again and said my account had been accessed by a flatmate when I was away and that he made the unauthorised purchase.
I requested the return and he gave me a label.
After a longer than usual amount of time and some more pressing they finally issued the refund.
Once again thanks for all your assistance and help.

Excellent.

You did very well with your approach and methodology, which was ultimately responsible for the SE's success.
