Edge has been surprisingly faster for me on an old machine, the only caveat is the lack of extensions.

Sleeping tab is another feature which helped a lot in improving Microsoft Edge performance...

Nice one.

I didn't know It existed, so I'll certainly checkout Its benefits.

Actually mothered one more thing to mention is Vertical Tabs, I'm using it currently with sleeping tab.. Both awesome features.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, I believe It's not defaulted to Edge, hence the feature needs to be downloaded and Installed.

Would this be correct?

It has it by default but not enabled in the last update:
How to enable Vertical Tabs
Open Microsoft Edge and click the three horizontal dots at the top-right corner of the window.
Click Settings and then click Appearance.
In the resulting window, click the On/Off slider for Show Vertical Tabs button so it's in the On position. At this point, your tab listing will appear on the left side of the window. Along with those tabs, you'll see a new button at the top of the tab sidebar. This small black tab icon (with an upward-pointing arrow) allows you to switch from the vertical tab UI to the standard UI.
Click that same button again and you're back to the Vertical Tabs.

Recently I was playing Granblue Fantasy and it seems that Microsoft Edge runs it the fastest. I tried across Brave, Chrome, and Firefox. Not sure I'd use Edge as my main browser, but it's a lot faster than Internet Explorer ever was.

Give it a try with Sleeping tab + Vertical tabs enabled

They are amazing features making you use Edge forever.
