Can't they just ask the carrier for details on package with particular tracking #?You've misunderstood. They cannot cross-check the physical delivery (package/envelope) against the carrier's records. That Is, given they've disposed of It, there's only one record- what's documented on the carrier's manifest, which Is not enough to deem any Investigation conclusive. So to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, they must have your physical package to conclude any investigation? The carrier's information about the package isn't enough to deem that the package sent to the company (obviously) doesn't contain the product that was supposed to be returned? This is the first I've heard of anything like this - do you know this from your years of experience in shipping/transportation industry? Is this true for all companies? RE: NEED Walmart FTID help! - mothered - 06-08-2020 (06-08-2020, 05:48 AM)Filament Wrote:Simply stated, you cannot cross-check a package that doesn't exist, Irrespective of what's documented on the carrier's manifest. You need to understand that "carrier records" and "company records" are separate entities, both of which are segregated and handled Independently of each other.(06-08-2020, 05:23 AM)mothered Wrote:(06-08-2020, 04:52 AM)Filament Wrote: I'm a little confused. That's the point of this particular FTID method- to leave no trace of receipt of goods, thereby the return center/receiving department does not have a physical foundation to work with. I see. That's really good information to know. Thanks! I understand that the carrier and company have their own records of the package, and that they are handled separately, but I did not know that the company cannot rely on the carrier's records if they do not have their own records. What happens when a company does not receive a return that the SE'er claims they have returned, and they open an investigation, such as in OP's case? Is the investigation only carried out internally and they do not contact carrier? RE: NEED Walmart FTID help! - mothered - 06-08-2020 (06-08-2020, 08:47 AM)Filament Wrote: What happens when a company does not receive a return that the SE'er claims they have returned, and they open an investigation, such as in OP's case? Is the investigation only carried out internally and they do not contact carrier? An Investigation In this case, Is to determine why the company has not received the sender's package. Is It lost In transit? Has It been delivered to the wrong address? Is It still sitting at the carrier's depot? And so forth. For tracking reasons, they'll cross-check the consignment with the carrier, of which It will be marked as delivered. The company with then check their systems, and do a physical check- both will be negative. Tracking clearly shows delivered to the correct address, but somewhere during the process, the company has failed to enter the consignment Into their system and cannot physically locate It. As such, they're held accountable for losing all traces of the package. This Is what makes this particular FTID so effective. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer all my questions. this post really helped me understand how everything works. I'm really glad this forum has someone like you. Your wealth of knowledge is beyond helpful for many of us. I hope to someday be able to help out as much as you have! ![]() btw to OP, here is some information that I received after talking with somebody working for UPS: "The label is encoded with the delivery address which is originally keyed into the system. So just photo-shopping the corrected address won't do any good as the data encoded in the package is what our systems will go off of. You are more likely to have the package delivered to the incorrect address you originally put in. Our delivery systems will also use the data encoded on the package to determine which delivery center and package car it goes on. UPS is a data driven company. We don't rely on what a package says for the most part. Especially once it is in the delivery center." This completely confirms previous posts in this thread, as well as my own research figuring out how things work. Most likely your package has been sent to their warehouse, and most likely the investigation will go well. I didn't send it to the warehouse. I photoshopped the address and put in the McDonalds address. Do you mean that most likely they sent it to whatever address is on the label? Wouldn't that imply my investigation will go well RE: NEED Walmart FTID help! - Filament - 06-08-2020 (06-08-2020, 09:44 PM)OriginalApe Wrote:(06-08-2020, 06:18 PM)Filament Wrote:(06-08-2020, 10:40 AM)mothered Wrote: An Investigation In this case, Is to determine why the company has not received the sender's package. Even if it was the label says McDonald's, it probably got sent to Walmart as that's what the tracking bar code says. I can't say for sure as it would depend on if the driver noticed and decided to go against his route and send it to McDonald's instead. But if it did go to Walmart, then the investigation would lead to courier saying it was sent to Walmart, not McDonald's, so it wouldn't fail in that aspect. RE: NEED Walmart FTID help! - thelegend27 - 06-10-2020 Any updates OP? I've been seeing refunders offering walmart in USA so maybe it's possible in the US rather than in canada. |
