Well as a penetration tester, I use Kali linux daily. I load up my Kali VM and begin hitting whatever network/application I was tasked with. Which makes sense... penetration testers use penetration testing distros on a daily basis (given that's their profession). So why is it you believe that offensive security only intended Kali to be a Live CD, when all the people in the industry that I know install it?

Why does offensive security give such a detailed guide on installing kali? Not to mention a special Kali VM Image to those who sign up for the PWK course?

Sometimes I wonder why I engage with these conversations. Ppl just say whatever the fuck they want and expect it to be true.

It CAN be installed. But it is recommended for it live booted, considering the shitty security settings.

The devs meant for it to be used for penetration testing. By normal usage, I mean shit like web browsing and image editing and stuff.

How does live booting it make it more secure...? It is the same system no matter if it's booted from a CD or from a virtual disk. Same system mean's same "shitty security settings" so I really don't understand your logic here.

Well yeah the devs meant for it to be used for pentesting; that is my point. Isn't this thread comparing two penetration testing distros (BlackArch and Kali)? I don't think anyone has claimed that they do web browsing and image editing on Kali linux so I don't know why that is relevant in this discussion.

Anyway good day sir I need to take a SHIT.

In terms of not Infecting the HDD of the physical system by booting via read-only media being a Live CD, then yes, It Is more secure than It's Installed counterpart.
