From what I understand he's really busy, we can't forget he has work and a family to look after, plus I think he took some sort of break, managing too many things probably took a toll on him mentally.

I could learn since i already know php. But i wouldn't feel comfortable since so many people are going to try to find vulns and i would need to learn more about security which i think would take quite long.
