In terms of disappearing for mysterious reasons, I definitely agree.
Whilst keys (depending "where" they're lost) can be very extremely difficult to find, I cannot fathom how a civilian aircraft that's on average 70 meters In length, can disappear without any of It's components found. I understand If It plummeted Into the ocean, then the analogy would be somewhat similar to losing a set of keys In a city or town, but surely with today's technological advancements they'd have some miniscule Indication of It's probable whereabouts.

You know, my mother said the same thing.
However, we forget that a lot of technology is only often incredible in relation to its context. Tracking on phones and tracking stolen vehicles is relatively easy in comparison, as we're in range of masts and there is so much more daily surveillance in towns and cities.
I think we forget how big the ocean is as a space that is not constantly monitored and the fact that with incidents occurring in the ocean, there's likely to be authorities debating over who the investigation is run and funded by.
I believe that if there was a large amount of investment into tracking plane debris in the ocean, there would be technologies being developed and used for that purpose that surpass the black box and comms. It is worth remembering that there are many things governments are going to be spending money on before they invest in finding planes in international water. Missing planes is a VERY rare occurrence when you think about the number of planes that are in the air at this very second.

I would believe it was hijacked, could have been taken down but that wouldn't make sense. What would make sense is if they tried to land it and keep it for something bigger.
