If you quit the game, do you still consider it your favourite? Or is it more, you don't really play mmorpgs anymore?

I only play FPS now, but if I was every to begin MMORPGs again, I'd return directly to WOW
But I also now what kind of time-theif WOW is, so it's unlikely I'll touch it again. I get hooked so easy!

I try to set reasonable goals and not take it too seriously. With the addition of Mythic-content, the grind is quite literally endless.

I suspected that might be the case haha!
And I really don't blame you. I've played WoW a bit myself. As Oni said, the grind can be endless. I've not played in some time. I joined when legion came out, then faded out of playing around BFA being released. I'm not sure I want to dedicate my time to it for the same reason you mentioned!
