RE: Installing Linux or other OS on Windows8/8.1 - alok9shm - 09-10-2014 Firstly, if its a new laptop, and a pre-installed Windows 8/8.1 then do not try to install linux as dual boot. First, Install a pirated version of windows replacing the pre-installed one, then get the iso file of the distro [ Ubuntu or fedora wont be bad ]. Burn the imAGE in a cd/dvd or use unetbootin/pendrivelinux to push the image in the usb drive, and finally boot with it.
