Then what is 'very nice' and 'sounds very good' based upon if you don't know what it is?

In this case 'AMP' means amplifier.

@bluedog.tar.gz, why are these images so big?
Shouldn't images be shrunk down due to HC's settings when it comes to posting?

EDIT: Never mind. It fixed itself, or something.

Let me explain some things first:

We're talking about a headphone amp here, This means amplification.

Every headphone has a different impedance. Impedance means the x amount of ohms that your headphones needs to drive it.
The higher the impedance, The harder a DAC/AMP needs to work to output a sound signal.
Most headphones with a low impedance (less then 25 ohms) need a small amount of power, These are often used for MP3 players, Mobile phones and other portable devices.

Headphones with a higher impedance(25 ohms or higher) often neer more power to achieve a higher volume. Because of this they are protected by "blowing up".

Headphones that are less then 25 ohms, DON'T PUT THEM IN AMPS OR PUT THE VOLUME LOUD ENOUGH!!! IF you do this there's a big chance that your sound will be completely blown out and your headphones will sound like shit. NEVER, EVER TRY THIS.

A PC has a AMP/DAC built in but it's only powerfull enough to drive 35 ohms to listen to something at a loud enough volume.(in my experience)
This said a PC COULD drive a 80ohm headphone but the sound would probably be way too soft.

PC's always go cheap on soundcards that's why often times you need DAC/AMP.

What is a DAC?

DAC stands for Digital to Analog converter. This device puts all the digital signals into analog which means 0's and 1's. You need this if you even want to listen to music.

A DAC itself can't give out a signal strong enough to listen to it, That's where a AMP comes in. This Amplifies the analog signal so you can listen to your music or whatever.
If you ever want to buy a DAC you have to keep in mind that you'll also need an amp.

A DAC often is a lot more expensive but will give you a cleaner sound with less distortion.

Why would I want an AMP then?
I have a DAC that needs an AMP.
Or in my case: My headphones aren't loud enough, This way I can't enjoy my music.

Cmon dude your ruining my spunk how do you expect me to see girls if they know i don't know what amp means :Not-Amused:, to tell the truth i didn't know what amp mean now at least i go a better picture what that device does .

But my swag level on this forum hit a critical blow :Thumbs-Down::Thumbs-Down: well i guess ill just have to use 2 things research and some of that lady's charm. And one more the power of luck that this thread will be a ghost town soon.

Also amplifier= a device that basically increases the strength of a signal.
