It has a good set of tools and is constantly being updated.
There is also alot of resources out there for Photoshop (extensions).

Everybody has its own personal favourite graphic editing software but for all the (professional) designers I know use Photoshop.
The workflow and performance is by far better then any free/paid software editing software out there Smile

Adobe photoshop is the best tool but for LOGO's Illustrator is better.

I use GIMP for general art and Inkscape(switching over to Illustrator though) for any vector art I'm doing. I have found that PS can do a lot more than GIMP but I'm so accustomed to GIMP that PS is a foreign product to me. I used to do icons and such in GIMP but found Inkscape and love it, but then I found Illustrator and love that too haha.

So GIMP and Inkscape are my favorites.(And you can't beat free).

This is some nice Abstract wallpaper Smile

I also enjoy more using Inkscape than Illustrator. Inkscape is easier to work with.

Sadly GIMP doesn't have some features that would actually make it easier to work. Hopefully in the future releases they will include Style packs and Blending Options or atleast something similar.

Thanks man! I have only been in this graphic design business for a year but love every second of it. And I agree Inkscape to me is easier and more intuitive than Illustrator to me. And yes I agree blending options would be awesome, I also wish they would add more layer modes(like the tons that are in PS)! All of these would be awesome additions.

For all my designs I use Adobe CS6 or any Adobe software in general.
