Well, there are any number of disks and tools available to both remove a windows password, or format/remove a windows partition. BART PE comes to mind for a windows boot disk, and just about any linux livecd will give you the ability to format the drive without a problem. Or you can remove the disk and slave it on a second pc and just format from windows.

None of this is exactly difficult information to find. there are probably billions of tutorials online on how to bypass windows passwords or remove windows altogether.

If you are talking about an account password, wether admin or guest than you can use the chntpw command in order to remove the password from the SAM file. Since the laptop is your there will be no problem in removing the password as you can easily set a new one after getting the access.

EDIT : as far as i know, chntpw works on linux systems only so unless there's a Windows version too, boot a live distro from CD

I was going to suggest the Offline NT password editor on Hiren's Boot CD.

But looks like OP wants to format the drive instead. Personal Choice.

Maybe Konboot can work ...

RE: Lost password to toshiba laptop - 3r3bus - 01-06-2014

I presume you're on Windows?

I've got a tutorial for this using KonBoot (I believe is paid software, but I've provided it for free)
