Only problem I see really is building a community; you'd have to build one out of people that actually kinda know what they're doing, but not so much so that one or two guys are gonna sit there refreshing all day and then just go down the page and fuck everyone up in a few hours.

I was thinking of something similar before but in a more general sense. Not to limit what bounties could be put on in any way. Like some site like I2P I think have croudsourced bounties as an incentive for people to develop to some part of the system ( https://geti2p.net/en/get-involved/bounties )
But say you had it for anything, to be an incentive for someone to audit and submit vulnerabilities to some CMS or whatever. Like MyBB, if people using mybb for their site contributed to a bounty rather than mybb themseleves having to pay it. And you would pay out when it has been disclosed to MyBB and patched in an appropriate manner.
Trying to think of more examples of what could be done but I certainly think you could have a broader spectrum than "skid ownage" to be honest...
EDIT: and to add I would be interested in helping out looking into people if you need extra bodies.

Ooh. I really like this idea. Keeps things capitalist, but minimizes the cost for an average Joe webmaster.
