The day petty humans will dispose of angels and eternal afterlife, dispose of their hate for each other, is the day when they should speak of matters such as this.

Untill then, FAKU.

I would very much like the idea of coming into contact with aliens (when I say this, I do not mean communication, but meeting other life forms besides bacteria). I also think it would be very possible. We will, most likely, be able to expand our ability to travel through space. However, if we are limited by our own resources and the state of the planet, then it could be equally unlikely. Also, this planet will not last forever. We are likely going to see another Ice Age, Yellowstone could errupt etc. If we survive all that. Let's hope Earth/the human race survives long enough to move out before the Sun engulfs us. xD

The possibility that we could be alone, by ourselves, is quite frightening. It's equally frightening that we might not be. Unlike others, I am in no rush to say that there are/aren't other intelligent beings out there, as both possibilities terrify me. It's a good idea to consider how large the universe is and how many things had to go "right" for the human race to exist as it does today, but it's foolish to outright say that there is or isn't intelligent life out there.

I haven't hear that before. Source?

I remember there was a probability calculation of this. The chances were in favor of life existing somewhere in the universe - however, as already stated by others, whether that life is intelligent or not is debatable.
