Maybe the shittiest of the shittiest schools teaches that. Believe me, they do teach how to use loops. Actually (at least here) they do go through a lot of topics quite in depth. They do a whole year of Python, with only one unit on hardware. You want to know how I learned Python? Anizeb taught me the basics. Then, like he did, whenever he had an error, I Googled that shit. And so far, from the looks, Google will help a lot more than a school. RE: Kill Me, Kill Me Right Now - superMAUS - 05-05-2014 Ahh I see, your into Beautiful Code. Practice isn't my worry. I practice everyday from when I get home to when I go to bed. AND some of this is just plain wrong. I'll give you an example, the .join statement. Joining two phrases cannot be done. You choose a character (or multiple) to join items in a list. Example: Code: lst = ['item 1', 'item 2']
print(str('-'.join(lst)))If you were to run that in Python, it would return this: item 1-item 2 His usage was 'statement'.join('another statement') This is bad because it combines the two and they wrap around each other. If I did 'hi'.join('there') in Python, it would return this; thihhiehirhie Don't believe me? Here comes a screen shot.

The problem: you can't compare this to how much school would have helped, since I believe you've never taken a programming course. The courses do teach you programming with a more aspect/theory based approach, but that's not necessarily bad, since it will help you pick up an other language and understand them faster. However, I believe practise is important - I always google whatever errors I get/problems I have, and I have learned lots from it. (05-05-2014, 10:42 AM)xornull Wrote: Is that Ubuntu? Yes. Sadly, you're wrong, old friend. I am indeed taking a programming course in school. The only the is the course doesn't relate to this thread since it's not in Python.
