They may threaten the guy saying that they will get lawyer involved  and stuff, but bricking the phone somehow doesn’t sound as the way they will go, but I may be wrong.

We will see
While true no one has seen them send messages like this before and they'd be foolish not to follow through with what they say. If they do then the refunding problem direct through Apple will be solved overnight.

They will obviously still have a record of the device's IMEI.
That's for sure that if they want they can, just considering how is done IOS, they can easily just brick the phone if they want without even blacklisting the IMEI.

In the meanwhile I SEd two iphone recently; we will see if I get the same email and what will happen because so far I did not get any of this and both phones are being used

Thats why i tell people to wait a minimum of 4 weeks before turning on any SE'd phone. No one listens.

Laptops can be turned on straight away.

Are you sure laptops are fine to turn on straight away?

"We are glad to see that you located the device that your originally reported as not in the box. As you have received the device we will need to be reimbursed for the credit that you received on DATE via wire transfer. While this issue remains unresolved all accounts associated to this matter are subject to service interruptions

To use a wire transfer to pay for this issue, please have your bank electronically transfer the total dollar amount of the credit (PAID AMOUNT) to Apple using the following information. Your payment may not be transferred by any other method."

Anyone had this happen to them? Waited to active the phone after the refund posted. @mothered

What item is this

I EBd both but used different approach les; refund on one and replacement on another that was then legit returned for a refund. This was just recently. I hope not to get any email like this

Are you saying you logged into the Apple ID that you used to SE this item?

Any update to this thread?

You edited all your replies but what was the outcome of this SE? I don't want this to be me and I'm at the point where I have received those two emails, gotten the funds back, but there is still a pending refund for the same amount under my pending transactions that was before the actual posted refund

just ignore them or tell them that the phone has obviously been activated by the thief and not you. act offended that they would assume you found it and started using it without alerting them.
